Support: Taking and Using Snapshots with VSS

Snapshots can be incredibly useful in providing quick visual evidence of a situation without the need to watch live video feeds. This guide will walk you through the process of taking snapshots and utilizing the snapshot report.

1. Ensure Vehicle is Online:

  • Green Dot Indicator: Check that the vehicle is online. This is indicated by a green dot next to the vehicle in the monitoring panel. If the green dot is visible, it means:
    • Ignition is On.
    • The GPRS symbol is lit up, indicating the vehicle is connected to the system.

2. Taking a Snapshot:

  1. Press the Query Photo Button:
    • Locate the green or black triangle (the query photo button) in the monitoring panel.
  2. Select the Camera:
    • Choose the camera from which you want to capture a snapshot:
      • Camera 1: Interior-facing camera.
      • Camera 2: Forward-facing camera.
      • Camera 3: Additional camera (e.g., rear camera or mini dome camera).
  3. Press OK:
    • Once you’ve chosen your desired camera, press OK to take the snapshot.
  4. Snapshot Confirmation:
    • The camera is ready when the mountain range icon lights up, and/or the picture icon at the bottom of the panel shows the number of available snapshots.
    • If there’s more than one picture, the icon will show a number in red (e.g., "3/3" means three pictures are available).

3. Reviewing and Saving the Snapshot:

  1. View Your Snapshots:
    • Use the left arrow button to scroll through previous snapshots (if there are any).
    • The snapshots are displayed with key details, such as vehicle speed, location (latitude/longitude), and address.
  2. Download the Snapshot:
    • Click the download button on the snapshot to save the image as a JPEG file to your computer. You can then open the image for review or use.
  3. Close the Snapshot Viewer:
    • Once you’ve saved or reviewed the snapshots, close the image viewer by pressing the red X in the top right corner.

4. Accessing the Snapshot Report:

  1. Go to Reports:
    • Click on the Reports icon in the monitoring system.
  2. Select Snapshot Report:
    • Choose Snapshot Report from the available report types.
  3. Choose Vehicle and Timeframe:
    • Select the vehicle (e.g., Van 11) from the dropdown list.
    • Choose the time period for the snapshots (today, this week, this month, etc.).
  4. View the Snapshot Report:
    • The report will show all snapshots taken during the selected period. Each snapshot will display the date, time, and other relevant details.

5. Exporting the Snapshot Report:

  1. Export the Report:
    • Click on the Export button on the right side of the report window.
    • Select PDF to download the report in PDF format.
  2. Save the Report:
    • The PDF will be saved to your Downloads folder for easy access.
  3. Use the Report:
    • You can now email the PDF report to relevant parties (e.g., police, customers) or use it for internal documentation purposes.

Benefits of Using Snapshots:

  • Efficient Evidence Collection: Snapshots provide a fast, visual record without needing to watch live video.
  • Proof of Events: Snapshots can serve as proof of a vehicle’s location, a driver’s actions, or the completion of a delivery.
  • Save Time: Instead of reviewing multiple minutes of live footage, you get a quick, clear image of the situation.
